Kudos to the crew~

Hi Mary,
My name is Arnna Egan and I am the Events Manager at Saratoga Springs Retreat Center in Lake County where we have just finished hosting the 'Raindance' Gathering.
I just wanted to say that your Crew rocked!
They did an amazing job throughout the event and even more so during the clean-up.
We had less than a day to turn the property around for an incoming group this afternoon and the only reason that we were able to successfully do so is because of your Crew and their tenacity and hard work.
And if that wasn't enough, to top it all off, they were such a great group of people - VERY friendly, approachable, proactive and just great energy to be around.
Although I did thank them (profusely!!!!), I would be grateful if you could once again let them know how much their dedication and hard work was appreciated, with an extra big thanks to Peter Bob with whom I had most of my dealings - always gracious, he is a great representative for your company.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Re:  Berkeley Fourth of July Greening

Green Mary - you and your crew are unbelievable.  You all busted your butts all day long at the 4th of July which is a very long day and were still smiling at 11PM.  I can't thank you enough.

What can event producers do to make it easier for you?  Let us know.

Background:  March 25, 2010 - Green Mary and an all-volunteer crew greened the Annual Sonoma County Democratic Crab Feed for the third year in a row and hauled 820 pounds of crab carcass and other organic waste to the compost facility where the sea gulls had a second go at it. We achieved a 98% diversion rate and made under five pounds of "garbage" which was the soiled garbage and crab bags.

After a presentation highlighting this stat, Arthur Boone, president of the Northern California Recycling Association commented:

"98% diversion is the new standard in events; anything less means they aren't trying." ARB

"I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate the opportunity to have been a part of something so wonderful. I spent the weekend sorting in the bins, picking up litter, and talking to people about what was to be composted versus recycled. Your bins were well decorated with examples and your presence was everywhere - even in the loo. I consider it an honor to have been able to take part in this experience and to have said that I worked for you at my first festival. I hope you will consider me again next year.

Thank you for all that you do!"

"You are stunning!!!!"

"I recall in your excellent talk at the NCRA Recycling Update last week that you have a hand-out of earth tips, & I bet they are excellent. But I couldn't find exactly that on your web site (thought I did find a lot of other great stuff!). I'm assuming these tips are something simple & concise, and would like to print up to hand out at our Earth Day event. Is it something you could email? "

"What an amazing and inspirational woman you are. Thank you so much for your tireless and graceful energy working to keep our relationships with ourselves, each other and Mother Earth, clean. Who woulda knew its all in the way we deal with our trash? If Yoda saw you in action harmonizing Harmony Fest, he would say, "a true role model, you are."

Angelina Cook, Shasta Green Goddess

"Thanks for your passionate work! Had a great time at Harmony and got to dance on stage with Michael Franti! That and rummaging through the dumpster were true highlights of the weekend. If you ever want to talk zero waste planning, see what we do at Whole Earth Festival (much is documented and I can send you info if desired), reusables, or anything really, get in touch!"

"I was VERY impressed with the environmental consciousness at the Hairrison Street Fair in San Francisco last Sunday. VERY impressed. I have always been shocked at the waste that I've seen going on at street fairs and festivals and have, at times, been ashamed that our out-of-state visitors were seeing Californians displaying apparent disregard for the environment (after the good image California has for environmental concerns). Thank you for working with the Hairrison Street Fair people to make this event such a planet-friendly event!!!

I am going to write a letter to the editor of the local gay/lesbian papers expressing my appreciation for the greening of the Hairrison Street Fair. I wonder if I can provide a link to your website in this letter?

Anyway, THANK YOU for your GREAT work!!!!"

"Thanks so much for all your energy and enthusiasm for the Food Connections conference, you make an awesome difference."

"This is the true Joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as I live it is my privilege to do for it what I can."
